Can you explain what jade is? Yes, just go ahead, I will speak a lot
Jade is one of the most ancient stone in China, Chinese are prond of jade, because they have the oldest jade culture. In China, the best(expensive) jade from the West China called 'Hetian jade' (Hetian is a county in Xinjiang provice of China), it's milky white with soft luster. There is a saying here: 'Gold has its price, but not jade', it means (hetian) jade can be invaluable.
Mountain jade, new jade, olive jade, milky jade, taiwan jade, korean jade, honey jade are natural jade generally. But the quality can not compare with Hetian jade. Russion jade is also natural, I donot know it very well, someone in China says: the best jade in China is from Russia, because China developed so much Hetian jade, good jade goes short. But good Russian jade is from the boundary of China-Russia (I tell you best Hetian jade is from the West China near to Russia).
Soo Chow jade, Candy jade is dyed jade, usually from milky jade, because this jade is the cheapest jade, milky jade is usually used on buildings, you can see a picture of 'Forbidden City' (Beijing), the bridge faced to Tian'anmen Squre is make of milky jade, or you can see the white parts in the picture of 'Temple of Heaven' (Beijing), and Milky jade is usually used in the tomb of King of Qing Dynasty and Ming Dynasty . Most of Malaysian jade are also dyed, dyed to dark green colour, I think the most popular jade in Eaurope is dyed Malaysian jade.
Jadite is a member of jade family, but another stone in the eye of Chinese people, the best rough jadite stone is from Bruma, Chinese buy import and cave/polish them to valuable things. I like Bruma jadite personally. The good jadite looks like a drop of water, glass luster, but it is not as simple as rock crystal. Jadite can be green/ red/ lilac(we say violet in China). Jadite in China called 'Fei Cui', the two words are two name of birds, the one is green, the other is red.
Nephrite is the total name of jade except jadite. Jadite is the hardest one in the jade family. Eastern people like Hetian jade and Bruma jadite very much.
I hope you understand jade better from my word. Very interesting, right?
